Communication & Procedures
The safety and security of our students and staff is our top priority and drives all decisions regarding inclement weather.
When and how is the decision communicated?
Every effort is made to make a decision by 5:30 a.m. whether to cancel school so families can be alerted as soon as possible.
The district notifies families using the following communication methods:
Text Message: District updates are sent from the phone number, 82290.
Email: From: info@osageschools.org
Automated Phone Call: Recorded phone calls from the district will come from the phone number, 573-365-4091.
School Website: Visit www.osageschools.org, where updates will be posted at the top of the homepage.
Social Media: Follow the district on:
Facebook: School of the Osage
Instagram: SOTO District
Local Television: The district will appear on the list of closings and cancellations on KRCG-TV 13, KOMU-TV 8, KOLR, KY3, and KSPR.
Local Radio: Updates will also be broadcast on local radio stations.
How do I make sure I will receive notifications?
Please make sure your contact information is accurate in your Parent Portal in Infinite Campus. This will help ensure you receive alerts and important messages from the school district through our mass notification system.
If a parent makes the decision to keep their child home, will they be counted absent?
Parents are in the best position to decide if their child should stay home due to safety concerns. Children who are kept out of school when school is in session will be counted absent. The district does not differentiate between excused and unexcused absences. The only time a student is not counted absent is if they are out of school due to a school-sponsored activity.
When will missed days be made up?
School of the Osage (SOTO) will utilize AMI (Alternative Methods of Instruction) Days for the first five (5) cancellations. Beginning with the 6th missed day, traditional make-up days will be required as outlined below:
Monday, March 17 – 6th missed day
Monday, March 31 – 7th missed day
Monday, April 7 – 8th missed day
Monday, April 14 – 9th missed day
Monday, April 28 – 10th missed day
Monday, May 5 – 11th missed day
Monday, May 12 – 12th missed day
