FEMA building

The newest edition to the School of the Osage District will be having an Open House on August 31 from 4:30-7:30 p.m.   The public is invited to view the building that will serve as a safe room for 563 people, as well as a locker room for soccer teams and a practice facility for the middle school wrestling team.   The Osage boys soccer team will be having their home opener this evening as well.  Junior Varsity plays at 5:00 p.m. followed by the Varsity competition. 


Previous Public Release Statement:

School of the Osage was the recipient of Hazard Mitigation Grant Funding from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for the safe room behind the School of the Osage Middle School at 635 Highway 42. The capacity of the building is 563 persons. The district was awarded a total of $1,365,000 of federal and non-federal funds toward the facility.

When not being used during storm emergencies, the facility will function as classroom space, meeting location, locker rooms for both boys and girls soccer, visitors locker room, middle school wrestling practice facility, coaches offices, training room, and an officials changing area.  Furthermore, the facility will also include guest restrooms, concessions area, and storage.  Construction began in the summer of 2022 and was completed in August of 2023.
