Extended Learning Program

Welcome to School of the Osage Extended Learning Program

Extended Learning is a FREE afterschool program for School of the Osage students designed to provide a supportive academic environment for your child.  It is enrichment based on student voice and choice, intervention support, Social Emotional Learning for all, along with Parent Education and Family Support.

Extended Learning is part of the Nita M. Lowey 21st Century Community of Learning Centers which is a five year federal grant disbursed through the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE), Office of Childhood. This federal grant is dedicated to supporting students with strong academic enrichment opportunities that can help students meet state and local achievement standards in reading, math and science during non-school hours.  These enrichment opportunities complement the regular academic program while also offering literacy and related educational services to families of participating students. The Extended Learning's mission is to provide a safe environment in order to assist students that need extra academic support along with offering enrichment activities for all students in the program.

The program operates on Mondays from 7:30 am until 3:30 pm.  Monday through Friday 3:30 until 6:00 pm.  Students are provided with homework help along with reading instruction.  Students are also offered a variety of enrichment opportunities.  On Mondays, students will be served breakfast and lunch at the same cost as a regular school day meal.  If students are staying for extended time, (Monday through Friday 3:30 – 6:00 pm) a nutritious free snack will be served.  The snack will be provided by our school cafeteria.  All meals adhere to the national school lunch guidelines. Please note any allergies on your child's enrollment form.

We have two locations.  Heritage Elementary that serves Kindergarten through second grade.  Osage Upper Elementary serves third grade through Middle School sixth grade. We are a public school and are exempt from child care licensing.

An abbreviated bus route for our Extended Learning Program is offered.  There are four bus routes that are at designated meeting points throughout our district which will run on scheduled Mondays for our 7:30 to 3:30 program.  These days are listed on the Extended Learning Calendar.

Please see the Extended Learning calendar for days that Extended Learning is in session. We follow the School of the Osage schedule for holidays, staff in-service and inclement weather. If School of the Osage is closed due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances, then Extended Learning will also be canceled.  Please click here for the Extended Learning Calendar.

In order to make the Extended Learning Program successful, your help is greatly needed.  Family Engagement is crucial for student success.  Family engagement in schools is defined as parents and school personnel working together to support and improve the learning, development, and health of children.  Based upon this idea, we will accomplish our goal to prepare students for a lifetime of success.

Osage Family Partnership

We are family and community members who partner with our school to achieve the mission of equipping all learners to reach their maximum potential for a lifetime of success.

To achieve this mission, the OFP focuses on ways to CONNECT, COLLABORATE, and CELEBRATE with all partners.

We CONNECT with our partners by sharing information and resources. We COLLABORATE with our partners to welcome all families, communicate effectively, support student success, speak up for every child, share power and work with our lake community. We CELEBRATE with our partners and recognize and reward achievements.

What is required of a partner?  To be engaged at the level that fits YOU.
