For our first game in 19 days a much-improved Linn team came to Osage. We hoped to continue our hot shooting from the previous game, but after such a long layoff, you never know. We started a bit sluggishly and let their best player get some open looks. We were down 8-4 and took a timeout. The girls responded really well and ended the quarter on a 10-1 run. A huge key for us in the first was getting the ball inside to Liberty and she came through with seven points in the quarter. We really executed our offense well, set good screens and made good passes and it paid off. Sara had five points and Marley scored on an offensive rebound and we had a four point lead. In the second quarter the outside shooting took over as Linn switched to a zone. Sara hit three three’s and Reese added another in transition. Many of those were off assists from Syd who ended up with seven on the night, a career high. In the third quarter neither team shot the ball very well, but luckily our defense was good and we only lost one point on the lead going into the fourth quarter. Liberty had five of our eight points and continued her strong night on the inside. The fourth quarter saw both teams score better but our girls hit 7 for 9 from the free throw line, led by 2 for 2 from Syd and 4 for 5 from Sara to always keep Linn against two possessions down. A real good for us as we beat a good team and defended our home court after a long break. Hopefully, we can continue the good play on Friday when we play again.
