Dear School of the Osage Students, Families, and Community-
As you may have noticed, guidance regarding quarantines has been adjusted at the state level. I wanted to make sure that you were aware of these changes.
Please note the following updates for close contact quarantining for staff and students per the Miller County Health Department:
Reduced Quarantine Options for residents in school, effective 12/2/2020
Everyone is still required to quarantine for 14 days. However, under the new guidance, if they remain asymptomatic, they have the following options to reduce the length of the quarantine:
-- Quarantine can end after Day 10 without testing and if no symptoms have been reported during daily monitoring. Daily self/guardian-monitoring and the use of masks must continue until the end of Day 14.
-- Testing may allow for quarantine to end after Day 7 if a diagnostic specimen tests negative and if no symptoms were reported during daily monitoring. The specimen must be collected no sooner than the fifth day after last exposure. The later the test, the lower the risk of post-quarantine transmission. Quarantine cannot be discontinued earlier than after Day 7. Self-monitoring and the use of masks must continue until the end of Day 14.
In both cases, additional criteria (e.g., continued symptom monitoring and masking through Day 14) must be met and are outlined:
The requirement to wear a mask will most likely prevent students from participating in any school organized physical/extracurricular activity until after day 14.
Please help us out by remembering that students and staff must be fever free for 72 hours without medication before returning to school. Again, I implore you to continue to be diligent with this. Keeping schools open continues to be a huge group effort. (Osage Reentry plan here.)
In other news, don’t forget that the annual Holiday Bazaar is tomorrow from 9 am - 3 pm at Margaritaville- Lake Resort.
