The hallway was lined with cheering, and cameras as the competitors stood tall, inspired to compete and walk away champions. Students watched as 7 students boarded the bus, 5 from the high school, one from the Middle School, and one from the Upper Elementary. They had been preparing to compete in the special olympics, and this was the day they had been waiting for. They competed in events ranging from long jump, turbojav, softball throw, wheelchair races, and running for the top seat on the podium. After a full day of tough competition against area schools, they walked away with 7 gold medals, 12 silver medals, and 2 bronze medals. Congratulations is due to these students for their outstanding achievements and to the coaches who helped them prepare for this exciting adventure, and continue to coach and prepare them to perform their best every single day.
