School of the Osage Awarded 21st Century Community Learning Grant Award; Announces After School Program and Coordinator

The School of the Osage District is pleased to announce their application for the 21st Century Community Learning Grant award was successful. The grant will fund the expansion of the afterschool program which is designed to provide a safe and healthy location after school and on Mondays for Osage students in grades K-6. The program reinforces and compliments students’ regular academic programs. Students enrolled will receive personalized educational support through tutoring in Reading and Math, homework time, community and enrichment opportunities such as archery, robotics, art and cybersecurity, wellness and nutrition activities. There is no cost to attend and a nutritious snack will be provided after school. Breakfast, lunch and snacks are provided on scheduled Mondays. 

Program hours are after school, Tuesday- Friday 3:30 - 6:00 pm and scheduled Monday’s from 7:30 am - 6:00 pm. Monday dates: 11/15/21, 11/29/21, 12/6/21, 12/13/21, 1/10/22, 1/24/22, 1/31/22, 2/7/22, 2/14/22, 3/7/22, 3/21/22, 3/28/22, 4/4/22, 4/11/22, 4/25/22, 5/2/22, 5/9/22, 5/16/22.

The after school program will be held at Heritage Elementary and serve grades K-2 and the Upper Elementary serving grades 3-6. Sixth grade students will bus from the Middle School to the Upper Elementary after school Tuesday - Friday. 

The School of the Osage is pleased to announce Kim Edwards as the Extended Learning Program Coordinator. Kim received her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education with an emphasis in Early Childhood at Lincoln University. Beginning in 2005, Kim worked at School of the Osage as a kindergarten teacher and received her Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction along with a Master’s in Elementary Administration and her Specialist of Education in Administration degree at Williams Woods University. Kim has also worked as the Library Media Specialist for Heritage Elementary and ran the Tri-County YMCA afterschool program also at Heritage Elementary. 

The School of the Osage Afterschool Program is accepting applications to work the after school program Tuesday - Friday 3:30 pm - 6:00 pm. Positions are available at both locations -Heritage and the Upper Elementary. Pay is $30 an hour.
