Corey Hubkey plans on attending Missouri University of Science and Technology in Rolla to pursue an engineering degree. He has his sights on chemical engineering, but open to change as he takes more classes. Science and math have always interested him and as he studied career options, he thought engineering would be a good fit. Corey is excited to explore the many career opportunities engineering will provide for him. While in high school, Corey was very involved in band, wrestling, track, and National Honor Society. He has quite a few favorite Osage memories from those experiences, but when pushed to name one he described breaking the hang clean record his freshman year. All the seniors were cheering him on and congratulating him, even though they did not know Corey and Corey did not know them. Corey’s advice for freshmen would be to “Have priorities; know what they are; stick to them. What you do today affects your future; don’t sacrifice your future dreams for a passing whim today.” An Osage staff member who was pivotal in his development was Coach Johnson: “His enthusiasm is contagious and he is always pushing me to excellence, whether I wanted to be excellent or not. In general, he’s just a good dude.” Corey, you will be a positive influence and have a positive impact on everyone you come in contact with both in your professional and personal life. We know you will do great things!
